Visiting the dentist can often be a terrifying experience for most, not least for children who dread the thought of having their cavities filled! Therefore the challenge at Smiles Forever Dental Clinic was to design a space unlike any other – an aesthetically pleasing ambience that would divert the attention of kids (and adults alike) from the terror of the dentist’s chair. As the space needed to be child-friendly, the minutest of details were taken into account such as soft edges on furniture, padded corners on the seating, and indirect lighting in the recovery room to allow for a soothing space
to recuperate.
In addition to this, bright colours were used throughout the space in the form of coloured laminates, wall decals of popular cartoon characters and even a brightly coloured dentist’s chair. A small play area was also included to create a calming atmosphere for the little patients. The clinic comprises a reception and waiting area, common washroom, play area, pantry, sterilisation room, separate operation area for adults and children with a recovery room, as well as a small space for consultation.
