Casa Vistosa

Location: Mumbai
Year: 2018

The idea for this home was to design a space with minimal clutter, not too busy, with nooks that have sunshine pouring in – where everyone feels welcome.

Inventive and sleek, this private refuge with its untethered personality (much like the home owners) redefines ‘home is where the heart is’. A balance of different and unique things, the living room space is an assemblage of non-synergistic seating elements that eventually complete one another. Coupled with geometric angles in brass inlay, a harmonious juxtapose was created with one-of-a-kind Statuario white marble flooring and white walls which facilitated the family’s requirements of a spacious home. Reflective surfaces created the illusion of added space, where fragmented light could
literally bounce off.

To make a home that is unfussy and unpretentious, we had to delve into the universal values of classical minimalism, proportions and geometry. Abstract, modern and art deco forms have been incorporated in all design elements. Every room is dominated by a combination of pantone colours, which forms the leitmotif, as well as a source of inspiration, hence the moniker ‘Casa Vistosa’.
