The glittering personalities of the fashion industry – Sandeep Khosla and Abu Jaani, unequivocally pronounced their affinity for a golden look for their store – ASAL at Kala Ghoda, Mumbai. Thus highly-polished brass played the focus at the outlet. The geometrical framework for the reception table with a bronze mirror top, the framing of the bevelled mirror, the light pendants, the cladding of the storing units as well as the tube light were all made from shimmering brass, a yellow metal that added the desired Midas Touch to the store.
In order to complement the effect of the glamorous metal, while still allowing the clothesline to stand out and hold its own, rough tiles, walls with textures created by hand and sober muted wall colours were used to create and aptly understated backdrop. Persian carpets in the display area and in the lounge on the upper level add a luxe feel to the milieu.
Trial rooms with gold leafing on the walls, a staircase in pure Burma teakwood and a cosy seating area on the upper level added further dimensions to the decor. With the right combination of glitz and a balancing sobriety, ASAL received the look it deserved to shine.
